Ride with Chris Burandt

Ride with The BBA Team in The Mountain Series

Ride with Chris Burandt and be challenged like never before! Set aside everything you think you know about riding and be ready for a new mindset.  For the most experienced mountain riders, Chris will teach you and guide you through his Rocky Mountain playground showing you how to navigate terrain you once thought impossible to negotiate.  This adventure will push your abilities to the fullest and completely change the way you look at mountain riding forever!  You will leave with a whole new set of skills, get comfortable in the uncomfortable and be inspired to be the best in all you do in life!

(Mountain riding experience is required to ride with Chris)

Ride in the Mountain Series and learn from the BBA Team in the ultimate backcountry adventure!  For experienced riders with varying levels of mountain riding experience, your professional guide will spend a ton of one-on-one time with you in an adventure as instructional and challenging as you want it to be.  Whether it’s your first time riding in the mountains or you’re a highly experienced mountain rider looking to improve your skills, one of our Backcountry Professionals will teach you, test your abilities to the fullest and send you home with a whole new set of skills and perspective on mountain riding.

(Mountain riding experience is not required to ride in the Mountain Series)

*Package Pricing:

  • 3 days of guiding and sled rental with 4 nights of lodging and all meals: $4,058.76 

  • 3 days of guiding (you bring your own sled) with 4 nights of lodging and all meals:  $2,933.76

*Package pricing is USD per person.  Taxes & Forest Service fees included.  Airfare/rental car not included

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total adventure price (OR $1000 if the total adventure price is less than $2,000) via credit card or check PER PERSON is required.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

Burandt’s Backcountry Adventure offers tours from January through beginning of April, weather permitting.  

3 days of riding / 4 nights of lodging is the perfect amount of time at Burandt’s Backcountry Adventure.  We offer packages with or without sled rental. 

Come solo, or bring a group of friends!  We do not require you to bring a group of people. 

 

We keep each of our groups going out daily to 5/6 people with two guides in each group.

Sled Rentals

Bring your own newer  mountain sled, or rent one of ours!  We proudly offer 2024 Polaris Matryx Pro/Khaos RMK 850 (155 or 165) rental sleds.  Each sled is ready to rip - outfitted with performance parts and accessories from the industries best including handlebar bags, tunnel bags and a hot dogger to warm your lunch.  There's nothing better than a warm meal on the mountain!

Frequently asked questions

Here are answers to some of the most commonly asked Questions:

Q:  What city do I fly into?

A:  If flying, you will fly into Denver International Airport where you will grab your rental car and drive 2.5 hours to our location in Buena Vista.  (33551 County Road 361, Buena Vista CO 81211).   We recommend coming in the day before your riding adventure in the early afternoon allowing enough time to make it to our shop/office for check in about 4:00 pm.  On your departure day, don’t book yourself an early flight out – remember the drive is 2.5 hours without inclement weather!

 

Q:  How old do you have to be to ride with BBA?

A:  You must be age 16 or older to ride at Burandt’s Backcountry Adventure.

 

Q:  What sleds are available for rent and can I bring my own sled?

A:  Yes, you can rent one of our Polaris Matryx Pro/Khaos RMK 850s (155 or 165) or bring your own long track mountain sled. Don’t forget - if coming from out of state and bringing your own sled, a non-resident permit is required ($30.95).  We try to keep stock on hand and they are typically available at the Arctic Cat dealer in town or online at the Colorado State Parks site. https://www.cpwshop.com/privilegepos.page?_PageParam.displayCategoryID=318492158

 

Q:  Is a waiver required?

A: A signed liability agreement is required prior to the tour.

 

Q.  Do I need a reservation?

A: Reservations are required.  A credit card or check is required to hold the reservation and a deposit of 50% of the total adventure price OR $1000 if the total adventure price is less than $2,000 PER PERSON is required..  Final payment is due 60 days prior to arrival.  All deposits are non-refundable and must be used for the current riding season.

 

Q:  When is payment due?

A: Payment for your adventure will be due in full 60 days prior to your arrival date.

 

Q:  What should I bring?

A:  Bring all of your riding gear including boots, pants, jacket, helmet/goggles, balaclava, gloves, and avalanche beacon/probe.  Protective gear is recommended and you will want to have extra gloves to stay dry on those deep powder days. Please note, rental riding gear (outerwear) is not available for rent.

If staying overnight at our lodge, bring your own shampoo, hair dryer and toiletries.

 

Q:  What equipment is available for rent?

A: Rental riding gear (outerwear) is not available for rent.  Beacons /Avalanche safety equipment and two-way radios are required and available for rent.  Beacons - $10 per person per day.  Avy Packs - $40 per person per day. Radios - $10 per person per day.

 

Q. What is available for purchase?

A: A variety of riding gear, backpacks, helmets, goggles, beanies, hats, hoody’s, shirts, sunglasses, avalanche safety equipment, sled accessories etc. are also available for purchase at the BBA Store.

 

Q:  How are the rental sleds outfitted?

A: Our rental sleds are outfitted with handlebar bags, tunnel bags and a hot dogger to warm your lunch.

 

Q:  What happens if our schedule changes?

A:  We understand that your schedule may change at the last minute and/or emergencies may occur preventing you from attending.  We will do our best to reschedule your adventure for a date that can better accommodate your situation for this season.

 

Q:  Where is the mountain lodge located?

A:  Our private accommodations in Buena Vista are equally unmatched. Available as part of your backcountry experience is world-class luxury lodging at our exclusive Colorado mountain lodge, including all-inclusive first class meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our custom built lodge with 9 bedrooms, game room and multiple gathering areas sets just outside of town against a backdrop of the largest concentration of 14,000 foot peaks in the nation. The town of Buena Vista is only minutes away long with the soothing waters of Mt. Princeton Hot Springs.

   

  • Check-in time is 4:00 at the shop where you will sign waivers first then head to the lodge, only a short drive away.  Check-out out time is 10:00 am. 

  • The lodge does not have a hot tub, but the soothing waters of Mt. Princeton Hot Springs are only 20 minutes away. 

  • There is a large heated room dedicated for drying out your riding gear each night.

  • WiFi is available free and cell phone coverage is great.

  • Breakfast is at 7:30 am each morning.  After breakfast, we head to the shop, load up sleds, grab lunch and drive a short distance to one of our trail heads

 

Q:  Where do we ride?

A: We ride the Cottonwood Pass area or St. Elmo.   

 

Q:  When do we offer adventures?

A: We offer adventures starting in January and run into April. 

 

Q:  How large are the groups?

A: Group sizes are kept to 6-7 people, with two guides per group. 

 

Q:  How long do we ride each day?

A: There is no set schedule, we’ll ride all day and until the group says they’ve had enough!  After a great day of riding, everyone has a great home cooked dinner back at the lodge.

Q:  Is insurance available for the rental sleds?

A:  Yes, rental insurance is $35 per person per day.  This insurance fee covers major damages greater than $1500.  Any snowmobile damage to a rental snowmobile at a value less than $1500 is the responsibility of the client.  Damage due to carelessness and/or misuse may not be covered by the insurance fee.

Q:  Can I bring my spouse?

A:  The BBA Lodge is set up for those who are staying and riding with us. If you’d like to bring your spouse and/or others along who are not riding, please inuire about availability - but it's best for them to stay at another facility in town.       

Q:  Are pets allowed?

A: Out of respect for all guests, No pets are allowed.
